House hunters Amanda and Keith from Wiltshire are searching for a holiday home in the hillside villages of Western Cyprus. They have been together for 31 years after meeting in the RAF and hope that eventually the holiday home will become a permanent place they can retire to. With a budget of £250,000, property expert Leah Charles King shows them five fantastic options – but will any of them be the dream place for Amanda and Keith?
About the area
The best way to get to Western Cyprus is to fly into Paphos, with a flight time from the UK of around four and a half hours. Until the 1970s this part of Cyprus mainly consisted of small fishing villages on the coast, and similar sized rural villages in the hills. Now though things are a lot busier and built up, with tourism the main industry due to the crystal clear waters, beautiful beaches and lively nightlife, particularly in the bustling town of Paphos and the stunning Coral Bay. But the area’s also rich in history with loads of archaeological sites containing Roman remains if you fancy a bit more than sun, sea and sand!
