Lake Vinuela, Spain - A Place in the Sun

Lake Vinuela, Spain Danni Menzies

When Paul asked his wife Tracy what she wanted for her 50th birthday, she replied ‘a house’, so now with the help of Danni Menzies, the couple are hunting around the villages of Lake Vinuela in southern Spain for their dream holiday home. They’re looking for a 3-bedroom villa with a pool for their whole family to enjoy, and for their ideal budget of £150,000 Danni has found 5 fantastic options, but will any turn out to be the perfect present for them both?

Lake Vinuela

About the area

A three and a half hour flight to Malaga airport and less than an hours drive takes you to Lake Vinuela. Lake Vinuela is a man-made reservoir, which is used to provide water to the area, but is also a haven for sailing, canoeing and swimming. It is surrounded by picnic areas, some with barbecues. Swimming and non-motorised water sports are also permitted here. Set with the mountain La Maroma as the backdrop, which stands 2000 metres tall, the picturesque, tranquil countryside here is dotted with traditional Spanish hamlets and villages, such as La Vinuela, where the lake took its name, and hundreds of olive groves. This area has something for everyone looking to escape from it all.
