Ben Hillman is house hunting around the stunning countryside and whitewashed towns and villages of Almeria with former bus driver Sue and postwoman Ali. They’re relocating from Weston-super-Mare to inland Spain and are looking for a permanent new home with plenty of land for their beloved Alsatian Leo to roam free. With a £70,000 budget at his disposal, Ben has scoured the market to find five great properties. But will Sue and Ali fall in love with one enough to put in an offer?
Inland Almeria
About the area
Almeria province is situated between the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol and has its own airport, with direct flights from the UK taking around three hours. Almeria city itself has a bustling port which tourists often use to visit Granada. More inland, the province is one of Spain’s least developed with loads of traditional, whitewashed villages dotting the mountainous landscape. Like Gador, with its beautiful architecture and popular food market. And Canjayar, one of fifty mountain villages known as the Alpujarras set at the foot of the Sierra Nevada with great views and narrow streets.
