Danni Menzies heads to Coimbra in Portugal to help house hunters Brannie and Paul find the perfect place in the sun. They’re planning to permanently move to Portugal so they’d like a three bed house which offers plenty of privacy but is still walkable to amenities. With a budget of £225,000 Dannie shows them five fantastic properties but will any of them be good enough to put in an offer?
Coimbra
About the area
Around a two hour flight to Porto and an hour and a half drive, takes you to the city of Coimbra, in central Portugal. Located on the northern bank of the Mondego River, Coimbra was the capital of Portugal until 1260 when it was replaced by Lisbon. The city is known as a cultural and historical hub, even the university here is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. But the surrounding areas are also famed for the mountain villages and stunning scenery, medieval towns such as Penela, and the nearby beaches that are so beautiful the stretch has been dubbed the Silver Coast.
