Dad Simon has come along to help beach loving daughter Samantha find her dream holiday home in Estepona in the Western Costa del Sol. With a budget of £180,000 Lee Juggurnauth lines up 5 great options but will any impress enough for her to put in an offer?
About the area
Estepona was one of the destinations that fuelled Spain’s 70s tourist boom but despite the surrounding developments it has retained much of its Andalusian charm. Known as the garden of the Costa del Sol, the Old Town’s flower power packs a real punch with its pot lined streets and pueblo blanco charm. Property prices are lower than in its up-market neighbours of Puerto Banus and Marbella (a 15 min drive away) but its beaches are equally as stunning, and the area continues to attract both Spanish and UK holidaymakers in equal numbers.
Estepona is currently expanding westwards towards Marbella, creating an area called the New Golden Mile, which runs from San Pedro de Alcántara to Estepona town itself. It’s called the New Golden Mile because it’s an extension of the original Golden Mile between Marbella and Puerto Banús.
The town council is business friendly and keen to develop the town’s potential, creating jobs and a strong economy. As the area has grown in popularity so has the infrastructure. Estepona boasts many Blue Flag beaches offering excellent facilities and are lined with chiringuitos serving fantastic fish and seafood menus. Estepona port - is to the west of the town and is home to shops, restaurants and bars. On a Sunday, there is a busy market which attracts visitors from all over the area.
