Ben Hillman is helping Lisa from Bedfordshire find the perfect holiday home for her and her family in Northern Tenerife in the Canary Islands. And she’s bringing along her best friend Jo to keep her from getting carried away while they’re looking. With a maximum budget of £300,000 Ben has 5 great properties to show them, but will any result in an offer?
About the area
Tenerife is the largest Canary Island by area and population size in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa, part of the Canary Islands archipelago. The Canaries are an archipelago of 8 islands formed from volcanoes that erupted 14 million years ago. Teide National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is in the centre of the island.
In it, the Mount Teide has the highest elevation of Spain, the highest of the islands of the Atlantic Ocean, and is the third-largest volcano in the world from its base. Also on the island, the Macizo de Anaga (massif) has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2015. It has the largest number of endemic species in Europe.
Los Gigantes is a resort town in the Santiago del Teide municipality (out of 31 municipalities in total) on the west coast of the Canary Island Tenerife. Its main feature are the giant rock formations, Acantilados de Los Gigantes, that rise from the sea to a height of 500-800 metres after which the town has been named. Los Gigantes means "The Giants".
Tenerife is served by two airports, Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna Airport and Tenerife South–Reina Sofía Airport. Tenerife South served over 11 million people in 2018. Flights from the UK come from most commercial airports: Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Newcastle etc. Airlines include Ryanair, Iberia, Norwegian, Jet2, Easyjet and TUI. A direct flight to Tenerife takes four hours and fifteen minutes from London. The other way to arrive on Tenerife is by ferry, either to Santa Cruz de Tenerife or Los Cristianos, near Playa de Las Américas.
