Benalmadena, Spain - A Place in the Sun

Our house hunt is taking place in the town of Benalmadena on the Costa Del Sol which is easy to get to as it's about 20 minutes drive from Malaga airport, where more than 100 flights from the UK land each week (the flight time’s around 3 hours). Although it might not be as well known as the neighbouring holiday towns of Torremolinos and Fuengirola, Benalmadena is a busy and thriving tourist destination. Its 80,000 population more than triples in the summer months and the town has almost 13 thousand hotel beds. There’s also tons to do here if you want a break from the beach including a number of historical sites, a Buddhist temple and Colomares Castle.

This recently refurbished second floor apartment has a good sized balcony which overlooks the communal pool, an open plan living and diningroom, separate kitchen, 2 bedrooms, one of which leads onto the balcony and has an ensuite bathroom. Our first property is in the Torrequebrada district, 5-10 minute drive from the centre of town and close to the beach. It’s a relatively new area with most properties here built less than 30 years ago, and prices start at 60 thousand pounds for a studio going up to a couple of million for a penthouse overlooking the sea.
