We asked Laura some quick fire questions to get to know her a little better! Don't forget, a new series of A Place in the Sun starts at 3pm on Monday 3rd January!
What is your most memorable A Place in the Sun moment?
There are far too many memorable moments for me to pick one. I am an extremely emotional person and often get goose bumps in 30-degree heat when the house hunters secure their dream property, or I sometimes well up and cry! It’s such a privilege to be part of something so important in a couple’s life and taking them on the property journey.
Where is your favourite place to film?
I think Kefalonia has to be one of my all-time favourite places. It was stunning.
If you could buy A Place in the Sun anywhere, where would you choose?
I am considering investing in a property abroad at the moment in Spain for my children. I am thinking it can be somewhere I stay when I am working there and then we can let out the rest of the time so they have a little investment. I spend a lot of time working in Spain so it sort of makes sense. I adore French properties and have often dreamt of owning a property surrounded by vineyards, but I also love Mallorca and Portugal!
What’s your number one piece of advice for house hunters?
You need to view properties in person, not just from a website. AND make sure you consider what the location is like all year round.
If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would you choose?
My friends and family. I’ve missed a fair few birthdays, funerals and weddings over the years being away with work so I spend as much time as I can with them when I am home.
What would your desert island meal be?
Miso soup and a BIG sushi platter
What is your least favourite food?
Tripe! I once had a boyfriend who’s nan loved it and would always ask us to pick some up for her.
When have you felt most star struck?
I worked behind the scenes in TV a while before moving in front of the camera and I worked on some incredible music concerts, films and events. Nelson Mandela was the most incredible person I met.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
In terms of places to travel to it has to be Costa Rica. I keep hearing so many amazing things about it.
Best compliment you’ve ever received?
That I have warm, have positive energy and I am a good soul. Don’t ask me who said it!
What did you want to be when you grew up?
At one point a dentist and then a ski instructor. But at age 14 I used to give my brother my dad’s camcorder (so he could be the cameraman) and I would tell him to film me whilst I did tours of camp sites we visited. I still have the footage.
Name one thing you couldn’t live without?
My phone. It connects me to my loved ones whilst I am away from them and my mobile office.
What song is guaranteed to get you on the dancefloor?
I am a massive boogier (is that even a word?) and you are pretty much guaranteed to see me dancing to most things. I helped Louie Spence find a house on an A Place in the Sun celebrity special and we choreographed a dance routine to Justin Timberlake's ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ one evening after filming.
Who was the last person you called?
My Mum
Do you have an irrational fear?
The sea. I am a little weary of the fact you don’t know what is going to approach you and from where
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People who are late!
