We sat down for a round of quick-fire questions with A Place in the Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin to find out about what makes him tick! Read his full profile here.
What is your most memorable A Place in the Sun moment?
Showing a couple a breath-taking apartment converted from some old cloisters within sight of the Duomo in Florence. They both burst into tears when they went inside.
Where is your favourite place to film?
To film the Caribbean is pretty special – everywhere you point the camera it looks so exotic and the house hunters always respond really well so it makes great TV, which is what its’ all about.
If you could buy A Place in the Sun anywhere, where would you choose?
Now I have a family of five it needs to be convenient and fun for the kids, so my mountain hideaway will have to wait. Majorca for me gives you everything for a family.
What’s your number one piece of advice for house hunters?
Use independent professionals – lawyers and currency brokers like A Place in the Sun Currency - then you can focus on the fun things and let the pros take the strain.
If you could invite three people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would you choose?
Michael Palin, Bill Murray and Matt Berry
What would your desert island meal be?
Probably fish don’t you think?! But if it’s a one off, it’s hard to see past eating my own body weight in Christmas dinner!
What is your least favourite food?
Risotto, every mouthful tastes the same!
When have you felt most star struck?
Meeting any sporting heroes – David Gower and Mike Gatting. Both gentlemen and I’m now lucky enough to see them regularly at Lords Taverners Events.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
More travel – on a motorbike.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Rugby player or actor
Is there one skill that you would love to master?
I’d love to be able to play the guitar. I reckon I can hold a tune so maybe I could serenade my house hunters to persuade them to buy!
Name one thing you couldn’t live without
Apart from the obvious things like my family – I reckon sport (reading about and playing).
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I reckon I’ve got a fairly keen taste in music but if I’m alone on along drive I’ve got a really cheesy playlist that I belt out at the top of my voice – shhh don’t tell anyone!
What song is guaranteed to get you on the dancefloor?
I am the resurrection by The Stone Roses – (full length or don’t bother)
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
People's sense of entitlement.
Favourite film?
Too many to choose but most Wes Anderson films get my vote.
Poster you had on your wall growing up?/Childhood hero?
Posters were all cars – heroes were cowboys then rugby players.
If you were a biscuit, what kind of biscuit would you be and why?
Hobnob – nothing frilly, dependable and hard
If you could win an Olympic medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be?
100 metre sprint – it’s just the most exciting event and something I used to race.
