With fabulous beaches, superb year-round climate and a lively nightlife, southern Tenerife remains a favourite with tourists and home-hunters alike - as you'll see from our TV programmes this week and next.

But like the bulk of Spain, its property market has been hit hard by the downturn, and there are hundreds of properties in the market for sale. So how to pick where and what to buy?

Lovely one-bed apartment on a quiet resort in the exclusive Chayofa Country Club, this apartment has also had a great reduction in price by €9,000 so it is now €129,950. This apartment can also be legally used as a holiday let.
High-end option in exclusive hub
SPLURGE! Luxury four-bed villa in the most prestigious area of Tenerife - Costa Adeje Golf. At €750,000 it is very well priced for a villa in this area and offers stunning views of the Costa Adeje golf course.
