It's no secret that the Dordogne is a longstanding favourite with holiday makers and second home owners alike.
But its ongoing popularity has now been confirmed by figures that show it to be the second most searched-for region on this website.
The top five areas for searches within the Dordogne are: Nontron, Brantôme, Thiviers, Le Bugue and Bergerac.
French property expert Patrick Joseph of www.my-french-house.com said: "Today's overseas property hunters are often looking for a lifestyle move and the Dordogne ticks all the boxes.
"Buyers are attracted by the gentle pace of life, spectacular scenery, abundance of locally produced food and wine and warm sunny climate.
"The fact that properties with plenty of spare land for growing vegetables and keeping chickens can be found at reasonable prices makes the Dordogne a realistic option for those looking to make a permanent move abroad."
"With airports in Limoges, Bordeaux and Bergerac connecting the region to most parts of the UK it's also a practical choice for second home owners looking for properties with rental potential."
With an average property price of just €120,000 the Dordogne is a perennial favourite with UK buyers.
"The beautiful countryside and wonderful market towns have a timeless appeal, says Mary Hawkins of Leggett Immobilier who also sell in the Dordogne.
"Our agents report an increasing number of UK buyers in this sector who want to enjoy the 'Dordogne experience' and are looking for a mixture of lifestyle & affordability.
"Prime prices are to be found around the much visited town of Sarlat la Canéda and our team in this area have been busy this year, particularly with clients who have between €250-350,000 to spend.
"By contrast it's not surprising to see Nontron top the A Place in the Sun search list. Property here is the cheapest in the Dordogne with an average price of just €90,000."

"Brantome is such a pretty town that it will always appear in the top three of any search list - it's not easy to find a bargain here but our agents are experienced and have some great local contacts," adds Mary Hawkins.
Leggett are selling a nice detached four-bed home with independent apartment and a pool in an acre, for €256,800, just outside Brantome, the "Venice of Perigord".
Or there's also a charming quintessentially French stone house with powder blue shutters and attached barn in Brantome for €248,000 (pictured).
Tim Swannie of Home Hunts, for whom the Dordogne is also a very strong area, says hotspots for them are also Sarlat, Beynac and Saint Cyprien - around the so-called "golden triangle" of the area.
"But west, around Bergerac and Perigueux is also popular," he says.
"In hotspots such as Sarlat prices have come down by 10 per cent, but in more rural areas, 15 per cent is more typical."
He picks out a lovely five-bed 300m2 "chartreuse" - traditional home in the medieval quarter of Saint Cyprien for €585,000.
