Ellen DeGeneres can afford to be DeGenerous as she sells her L.A. home for $55million.
According to Variety, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has sold the nine-bedroom mansion she owns with actress Portia De Rossi in L.A's Holmby Hills neighbourhood for a whopping $55million. Remarkably though, the couple only bought the stunning A. Quincy Jones-designed Brody House six months ago, for just under $40million - so that's a jaw dropping $15million profit for the comedienne.
Although Ellen and the Arrested Development star have been subject to a lot of cheating and divorce rumours recently, apparently the reason for the sale has nothing to do with any potential break-up - and instead took place because billionaire Napster founder Sean Parker seriously flipped for the 11,511ft² property and was very persuasive with his all-cash offer. The deal went through in just eight days, with Parker now calling the place home. Have a gander here >>>
Sources claim that with immediate need of somewhere to live, DeGeneres and De Rossi quickly spent about $16 million on a pair of adjacent condos in the super swanky newly-built Beverly West Residences. The building is the ultimate in high-end serviced luxury for the über-rich and includes a saltwater swimming pool and whirlpool spa, fitness center, Pilates room, 24/7 staff services (valet, concierge, doorman) and tonnes of security.
