In the centre of the village of Benafim, Municipality of Loulé, we now have this two-storey building, intended for housing, consisting of several rooms and patio. It is an urban area with 533 sqm, currently with 256 sqm of covered area and 277 sqm of uncovered area. It needs to be recovered, changed and increased if necessary. We are talking about a lot on a south-facing slope, which on clear days you can see the sea.
The façade of the house is traditional, simple, with an access gate to the uncovered area. The main structure of the house is still in good condition, without infiltrations in most rooms and still in a state of being able to be recovered.
Benafim is 5 km from Alte, 7 km from Salir and 19 km from Loulé, the seat of the Municipality. Between Benafim and Salir stretches a plateau, known as Rocha da Pena.
The village is divided into three zones: Benafim Grande, Benafim Pequeno and Bairro Novo, the latter being the most recent, despite being about three decades old. In this area are located most of the houses that the emigrants built, the other two constituting the historic nucleus of Benafim. It is also a parish with many emigrants, mainly in France, Germany and Luxembourg.
In terms of social facilities, the village has a pharmacy, a medical centre, a sports club (Sport Club Benafim), several cafes, a church, a cemetery, an Atm, a community centre, a supermarket, a minimarket, two hairdressers, a real estate agency, a restaurant, a picnic park, an architecture office, a gas station, a primary school and a post office operating on the premises of the parish council. Points of interest, we have the washhouses of Bicas Velhas, the Patio of Dª Antónia (illustrious benefactor of Benafim), the Chapel of Benafim, the museum of the village of Penina, nora and Roman pavement in Benafim Pequeno.
