Montpezat-sous-Bauzon is a charming, peaceful village in the UNESCO Ardeche National Park.
There's a beautiful12th century church and lots of historic stone houses, of which this is one. Within the village is a bakery, butcher, supermarket, pharmacy, 2x cafes, 2x restaurants. The Auberge de Montpezat has excellent reviews and is a real highlight of the village, serving locally-sourced traditional dishes.
There's a small but very friendly and welcoming community of around 900 inhabitants.
The village is surrounded by volcanic landscapes, dramatic gorges and winding rivers, making this the perfect playground for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, including hiking, wild-swimming, road and mountain biking, via ferrata, kayaking, canyoning etc.
