A large piece of land with olive trees for sale consisting of approximately 104 trees within approximately 4,300sqm of land. The trees are of mixed age but all producing olives with about 400l plus annually. The land is located on the fertile Stari Grad Plain and is situated just off the main road from Stari Grad to Vrboska. Access to the plot is from the main road and then along a track, There are about ninety trees of Oblica type of olives which produce the best quality of oil being up to 20% oil. The remaining trees consist of Leccino and Levantinka and Istrianka which are the pollinators.
Stari Grad Plain on Hvar is a cultural landscape that has remained practically intact since it was first colonized by Ionian Greeks from Paros in the 4th century BC. The original agricultural activity of this fertile plain, mainly centring on grapes and olives, has been maintained since Greek times to the present. There is also a beautifully preserved “Trim” shelter, which was used by workers to rest in and protect them from the weather.
Olive oil and wine have been woven into the fabric of the islanders for centuries and is an essential part of the Mederterainian way of life and diet. The islanders have a saying that to taste good a fish must swim three times, once in the sea, once in olive oil and finally once in wine!
The town of Stari Grad can be traced back to 2,000BC when it was initially called Pharos, after the Greek city of the same name. Stari Grad many lovely cobblestone streets which act as a labyrinth of interconnecting paths around the old town where one can stumble upon the quaintest of family-owned restaurants offering a mouth-watering selection of local cuisine. Stari Grad also has a record-beating number of cafe bars, which is a prerequisite to the Mediterranean style of life. The local area also boasts some excellent beaches in the vicinity.
