Orihuela Costa

A rising star in recent years, the Orihuela Costa in Spain just seems to get more popular every year that goes by. If you want the sun, beaches, British tourists galore and highly affordable property, look no further.

16km string of adjoining Blue Flag beaches, resorts and residential communities runs south from Torrevieja, forming the Orihuela Costa. Popular áreas include Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cuidad Quesada, Cabo Roig, Guardamar, Villamartín, Mil Palmeras and Campoamor. The busiest and most densely developed stretch of the Costa Blanca, it’s home to the region’s best value beach homes, typical urbanisations of apartments, duplexes, quads and townhouses.

Here, you’re never far from amenities, beaches, the popular La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre and the lively Cabo Roig strip. English is widely spoken, and you’ll never struggle to meet fellow expats.

Pilar de la Horadada is the most southerly resort in the Costa Blanca and combines a quiet old town with beaches and a marina at Torre de la Horadada. It’s a more traditional, quieter option to the other resorts in Orihuela Costa and prices are also competitive, with resale apartments near the beach from around €95,000.

Although it’s a little inland itself, Villamartin is close to the beaches of La Zenia, Cabo Roig and La Flamenca, and Los Dolses is a gated community nearby. Villamartin Plaza is a bustling hub of restaurants, bars, shops, and banks both day and night. Both families and retirees are both well catered for here.

But then the fact that this area is so popular is because you have everything on tap: clean Blue Flag beaches, the famous strip with its lively night life and the La Zenia Boulevard shopping mall (the largest in Alicante region) that for some is a family day out in itself with its restaurants, kids playground, and bowling.  Or maybe you prefer golfing? There are four golf courses within a 15-minute drive of each other.

If you like an easy Anglo-friendly life in the sun and a place where most things are more affordable than their comparables in the UK, then this is the place for you. Use the tab above to search for a property for sale in Orihuela Costa.
