Forty minutes away from the Mediterranean, nestling among the gentle valleys of the Espinouse and the Caroux foothills or perched above them, rising to 400m, seven villages and their hamlets form the Faugères “appellation”.  Faugères is an Aop in the Languedoc region of the South of France from this area’s only vineyard lying on a magnificent and homogeneous schist “terroir”. Steeped in history, the medieval village of Faugères is picturesque with narrow winding streets. The house is built into the town walls of Faugères.  This was the site of a battle in 1622, when the troops of the Duc de Montmorency besieged the town and destroyed the Château of Faugères.
