Full Description
A simply breathtaking property, dating from 1935, with plenty of charm and character and plenty of rustic features, consisting of a main house, guest annexe, store rooms, covered chill-out area, garage, pool and land.
Location
Cortijo Los Tabalos is located in a beautiful, lush river valley, with excellent access, below the village of Comares and just outside a small country hamlet. It has easy access to Comares (10 minutes), Riogordo (15 minutes) and Benamargosa (15-20 minutes) with no dirt track in peaceful, natural countryside. There are other country houses around, but the gardens are very private. Nearby (within a 5 min drive) is a very good local country bar and restaurant.
The land
The plot of 4370m2 is made up of the area where the house and building are, along with an ample car parking area just off the country road with space for several cars or a car and a camper van, the gardens and pool, (24m2 shaped pool), with a lovely barbecue area just by the pool, plus access to an outside shower room, and beyond, the rest of the plot, on an undulating hillside and all useable land. The land would be ideal for keeping a few animals, growing some vegetables, and some fruit trees, or for extending the garden area.
The house and buildings
The main house has access via a main door from a small side road, by the country lane, and a covered area. From here we walk into a delightful reception room, with a large wood burner (6x4m). One is immediately struck by the beautiful, wide stone archway into a dining room with a wall with a huge mirror, which opens both into the kitchen and the rest of the ground floor. The kitchen is fully fitted and is spacious and bright (4x4m). The dining room (6 x 4m) also leads to a large inner hall, up 3 steps, with a pellet burner, (5 x 4m inc staircase area), and a large arch leads through to the main living room (5 x 4m) with an open fireplace and a side door leading out to a patio area between the house and the country road.
Between the dining and kitchen areas a corridor leads to a bathroom to the left, (3x3m), past a sauna (around 3 x 3m), and a large bedroom at the end, (4x3m) with glass double patio doors out to a terrace (4 x 3m) and a store room off the terrace.
From the inner hall, with double height ceilings and wide doors leading out to a patio next to the garden, the stairs lead up to 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (bedrooms 5x3m, 5x5m and 8x5m, bathrooms 3x2m). However, the large bedroom is divided into two separate bedroom areas, currently with arches between them, and all that is required is to erect a simple wall to immediately have two spacious bedrooms here, one with ensuite and double doors out to a lovely terrace, with views across the countryside and mountains, and steps leading down into the garden.
Adjoining the main house with a separate entrance is the annexe. This delightful space consists of a fully fitted kitchen/dining room (5x3m), a beautiful living room (8x3m) with beams and a traditional fireplace, one bedroom (4×2.5m) and a bathroom (3×2.5m). A path by the annexe leads through to the gardens.
Please note room sizes are approximate.
Outside by the car park is a garage, and next to that, through a gateway, a few steps lead down to the patio, is a covered chill-out area, open on one side, ideal when one wishes to be outside, but protected from the sun, in the summer. There are also several very spacious store rooms.
