5 Bed House for sale
Quinson, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France
Full Description
This traditional 5-bedroom farmhouse has been fully renovated and overlooks the beautiful Provencal vineyards and lavender fields. The property comes with several large outbuildings and pretty terraces. Although the property is semi-detached it remains very private.
The property provides many different opportunities. It is excellent as a 'turn-key' property as the house and grounds are low maintenance. The current master bedroom has separate access and could be used as a chambre d'hote. Conversion of the larger barn would lead to possible holiday rentals. As it stands, it is a delightful family home.
There's a generous 200m2 of habitable space and the layout of the rooms is as follows:
Ground Floor:
Kitchen
Study/bedroom 1
Living space/utility room
Main living room/exercise space
First floor:
Bedroom with ensuite
Family bathroom
Bedroom 2
Bedroom 3
Master bedroom with ensuite.
Second floor:
Bedroom 5 with wash basin, storage space.
Cellar
Outside:
There are two barns, the smaller (games room) is 35m2 and the larger one is 100m2. The larger of the two would be perfect for conversion into guest accommodation. There's a large and pretty rear terrace which overlooks the vineyards and is a lovely place to enjoy a meal and a glass of wine; and an extensive front terrace.
Location:
The property is situated at the end of a small farm track and is part of a small hamlet with one full-time resident (a retired Dutch gentleman).
The closest shops are in the village of Quinson, which is a 10min drive. The village has a small shop, 3 boulangeries, hotel, several cafes and restaurants as well as a wine outlet that sells wine produced from the vineyards directly outside the house. There's also a produce market in July and August. Quinson is the host of a major museum of prehistory, designed by Richard Rogers, as well as a reconstructed prehistoric village.
The nearest supermarkets are in the town of Riez about a 15-20 minute drive. This also has a thriving market every Wednesday and Saturday morning. Many other local towns hold regular weekly markets: Cotignac, Regusse, Greoux and Tavernes among them. The world-famous pottery centre of Moustiers is 14 km away.
The surrounding countryside is wild and beautiful. The Verdon Regional Park (best explored on foot or bike) and the world-famous Gorges du Verdon (best explored by kayak) are both on the doorstep. Local lakes (including Esparron, Sainte-Croix, Artignosc and Quinson) provide a plethora of opportunities for water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, sailing, windsurfing and paddle boarding, as well as electric boats and pedaloes. There are many walks in the surrounding area, from short ones around the house to much longer examples in the surrounding pre-Alps hills and mountains.
The bustling city of Aix-en-Provence is about an hour away and has excellent links to Nice, Marseille and Paris on the TGV and the fast French Autoroute system.. Marseille airport is close to Aix.
